Together We Are Stronger

Hey, Kids!

Coach Heather suggested the other day that we start a blog where we could easily find coaching related documents and share ideas to help us grow our BeachBody coaching business.

This blog is, as the name suggests, a collective effort. There is no doubt about it: multiple heads are better than one. By helping each other, we help ourselves grow.

If you have any ideas or documents, please send Heather or myself your contributions! Together, we are stronger.

Here's to building our business and to our success!

Concrete Tips and Strategies to Growing Your Business

Coaching Tips and Strategies to Getting More Customers and Personally Sponsored Coaches

Introduction (by Barbie):
The community message boards are just one way of attracting “coachees” or customers who may also become coaches in the future. But, they are by no means the only way. As BeachBody grows and the community message boards become more saturated, we will have to use other strategies to help our coaching business grow.

The purpose of this handout is to share different techniques and strategies that have worked for some coaches.

Remember: the key to being successful as a coach is to be patient and persistent. If something doesn’t work for you, try a different approach. Eventually, you will get to where you want to be. Anything worth doing takes time and effort.

The Rule of Five (presented by Kevin):

Looking at the list below of ‘things to do’ can initially feel overwhelming. But, remember: you don’t have to do every one of these things and you don’t have to do them at all once!

To succeed, make a list of five things you can do (daily and monthly) that will move you toward your goal. Little by little, you will grow your business and get to where you want be.

• Set daily goals (5 things you can do every day to promote your business.)
• Set monthly goals (example, giving presentations to 2 local community groups)

****

I. Local/Community Groups

A. Contact the following to speak about coaching as a business opportunity

• Mary Kay or other skin care network marketing companies (Avon, for example. There are others.)

Mary Kay holds “Inside-Out parties”—being beautiful on the inside with health and fitness & being beautiful on the outside with Mary Kay products.

Some Mary Kay reps promote BeachBody products as coaches while promoting Mary Kay skincare products.

• Chamber of Commerce Events. “Business after hours” for business owners. (Monthly Events. Check calendar).

You get what you put into it. People are there to share their business. (Pro: you’re there to sell and so is everyone else!)

Contact your local Chamber of Commerce Events.

BNI--$500/year membership fee—business people getting together to build their businesses. Networking. ***You can get in as a guest. Contact them.

• Local Day Spas. See brochure.
One coach (who is also a personal trainer) approached a day spa to offer free fitness/wellness consultations. From the brochure:

“My health and fitness are not
guaranteed and should not be taken
for granted!”
That’s why I have devoted
my life to helping others
reach their own personal
fitness goals in the privacy
of their home.
But BeachBody offers
more than just fitness
coaching. Our fitness
support is all-inclusive.
• A variety of workouts so you’re never
bored
• Quality supplements that give you the
vitamins and minerals your body looses
over time. “Re-fueling” gives you more
energy, more focus and a better
attitude over all!
• Nutritional guidance to help you
choose the right foods to assist you in
your fitness goals
• How to cheat on your diet! Betcha
didn’t see that coming! We all have our
“comfort foods.” We show you how you
can still eat those treats and still lose
weight!
• Support, support, support! As much or
as little as you want. I’m here to support
you, guide you and assist you all
through your fitness journey.

• Doctors’ offices. Gift basket/brochures.
You can leave a small gift basket (soaps, teas, or healthy BB snacks) that includes a brochure and business cards.

• Local Sporting Events. (Donna’s Example) See brochure.

One coach created a flyer and a tri-fold brochure for her fellow hockey players in which she tells her story of losing weight and getting fit with Slim in 6. In both the flyer and brochure, this coach provides her email address, her website url, and information on joining WOWY.

• Any other ideas?

B. Contact the following to speak to potential customers (“coaches”)
• Church groups or other community groups.

• Weight loss groups. One group that exists on a national level is “TOPS.” You can do a fitness presentation and leave your business card/brochure with them at the end of the meeting.

• Your building.

• Any other ideas?

II. Internet/Social Networking Sites:

For acquiring BOTH customers and coaches. Set up profile with the following social networking sites:

• WAHM (Work At Home Moms) www.wahm.com (There are places where you can write about business.)

• Myspace—put your BeachBody link, post Bulletin (“today is $1000 days!”), look for P90X groups. Both customers and coaches have been acquired through myspace. This is definitely a venue that you should explore.

• Facebook

• Sparkpeople

• Any others?

III. WOWY—How to use WOWY to attract customers

• Invite people you don’t know to work out with you on WOWY. Why? Many of the strangers you invite will click on your profile and some will ask you to coach them.

• Invite your friends and people you meet in the real world to WOWY. Why? Many folks will be attracted to the opportunity to win prizes for logging in their workouts. It is very likely that they will find their way to the products section.

• Offer personal discount to friends/coworkers, with condition to sign up in WOWY. Why? The chances are good that they will become repeat customers.

• If you are a coach who has coaches, have customers sign up under someone in your team to help them out.

• Admittedly, one of the drawbacks is that you get a ridiculous amount of WOWY invitations. But, just hit the delete button! Do not feel obligated to respond.

IV. Weekly Team BeachBody Calls.

• TEAM POWER CALLS—building your outside legs. Practical business tips. David Martin. You can listen to their calls.
http://ourteampower.googlepages.com/

• TEAM ELITE CALLS—Mark said he’d forward me the link.

• TEAM GENESIS—our team. Thefitdoc forwards us this information weekly.

IV. Community Message Boards

• Be there daily. Be someone they can count on.
• Follow up.
• Make it about fitness.
• Limit your time. Know there are other means!

V. Coach Etiquette:
• Follow up within 24 hours.
• No isn’t necessarily no; it’s just no for now.
• Don’t take it personally!
• Eventually you will get a yes.

Coach Infomercial

Something we should all try and work up to qualify for!
NEWS!
******** HUGE HUGE HUGE *******
You all know about the customer lead program, where coaches who qualify are given paying customers who bought products after seeing an infomercial.  Soon there will be a similar Coach Lead Program (CLP).  BB is right now producing a new infomercial all about the coaching opportunity.  People who see the infomercial will sign up AS A COACH and will be assigned to existing qualified coaches!

Here are the the newest scoops.  The coach infomercial will start to run in early October on a limited basis.  They will examine the results, and tweak it if needed.  Then the media buying for it will ramp up after about a month.

The participation qualifications were just announced.  TO BE HANDED COACHES you need to meet these criteria:
  1. Be a diamond coach
  2. Have your profile page filled out
  3. 8 WOWY workouts in the prior 30 days
  4. Must have a home direct order for you personally of 100 points
  5. In the prior 60 days you must have one new PS coach (not from the coach lead program)  -or- have one new success link (can be a link from a CLP coach) -or- have one of your PS coaches move up in rank.
There is still time to get to diamond so you can be there at the very start.  This is going to be monstrously huge!  BB sells 15-30 thousand workout programs a week.  What if they get just 1000 new coaches a week from the new coach infomercial?   There will be around 250 diamond coaches in the company at the start of the CLP.  If they get 1000 new coaches a week, we'd all get 4 new coaches per diamond coach EACH WEEK!!  100 coaches after 6 months!!!

No one knows the number of leads that will come in, of course, but these kinds of numbers are certainly conceivable!  This has never before been done.  I truly believe it is an amazing opportunity.  I encourage everyone to shoot for diamond.  You can do it!

This is an email that Barbie sent out.  This is an email that Josh, of her coaches, sent out to his customers.  Josh, feel free to update on how this went.

Hey Coachees!

As you all know, our team has really grown in the last few weeks, and the number of people I am coaching has continued to increase as well. I am now spending anywhere from 2-4 hours a day answering emails, writing blog entries, and catching up on the thread, and I do it because I enjoy it! No matter how long it takes me throughout the day, I will continuously be here to provide ongoing support and motivation for all of you to reach success with the X or whatever program you might be doing, because I want you all to succeed!

However, I now would like some help back from all of you. As you may or may not know, in order for me to remain an active coach, I have to meet a certain volume in Beachbody product sales per month. Whenever each of you buys a Beachbody product, I will get a certain number in volume points, and after I reach 50 points I can remain active. Here is where I benefit from all this: After I reach 50 points, I make a small commission on each product that you buy. With the amount of time and effort I am putting in, it would be great to make a little money once in a while ! So if you are looking to buy supplements, consider Beachbody supplements not only because they are great products, but also to help me out a bit! I would really appreciate it!

Don't forget that when you buy any products to make sure you are SIGNED IN so I can get the credit!

I also wanted to let you guys know that there will be some additional benefits coming to you coachees very soon! Each month, starting September 1, I am going to hold a transformation contest just between you coachees! The person with the best monthly changes, judged by me, will receive a $25 Gift Certificate to a list of places they can choose from. This will just be something else to help motivate you in your journey to achieve extreme fitness! Now go out and BRING IT!

Josh
Independent Beachbody Coach

Here are some of Barbie's thoughts on this email!

Number 1. I love his DIRECTNESS. The basic message is:  "I'm here to support you, but I need this many points to stay active as a coach." If you guys are struggling to reach your PV for the month, I would try Josh's approach. He's obviously busting his butt to coach, I think his peeps are happy to help. In fact, I know they are.

Number 2. I think the idea of a "CHALLENGE" is GREAT. Everyone can join his "TEAM DETERMINATION," but in order to win, they need to be his coachee. JOSH, you might want to consider offering a BB product as the prize, such as vitamins or a recovery drink.

Getting Co-Workers Involved.

This is from one of Barbie's coaches! I want to share what Donna is doing to help get customers! (Donna, if I got this information wrong, please let me know.)

This is an email Donna sent out to her co-workers!

Hello everyone,
I’m sending you an email as a former WW@Work member, or other, to see if we, once again, can unite and get ourselves in shape!!
Here’s what I’m thinking:
  • We make a little club (get a cute name, i.e. OGN (Old Girls Network), NMFE (No More F-ing Excuses), etc.)
  • Everyone does their own thing (be it Weight Watchers, Southbeach, etc.)
  • We can meet once a week to eat our lunch and keep each other supported
  • No weigh ins, but how about a file that we all must log in each day of what we’ve eaten and what we did for exercise, and your pounds lost (weekly) – accountability!!
  • Have a Club Blog where we can post our thoughts daily or as often as possible.
    • Possible name for Blog: United We Lose Divided We Gain (get it?) J
I might have mentioned this to others, but I have become a Independent Coach with the Beachbody Company. While I would LOVE you all to purchase one of their products and have me as your coach, we could take advantage of their campaign, Million Dollar Body. All you have to do is create a screen name (no cost) and log your workouts (real time) into their page and you qualify for a daily prize. They give away, $1,000, $300, iPods, Cameras, etc. And it doesn’t have to be a Beachbody product. It’s a cool way to work out (virtual gym). Check out the web site for their products and promotion:
Any who…if anyone’s up for it, we could plan to meet for lunch after Labor (one last hurrah) and toss some ideas around. I can also answer any questions about Beachbody. I’m currently doing the Slim in 6 exercise routine. I’ve lost 10” and 20 pounds (and I don’t care to find them again!). I have 20 more to go…so I’d love to have us gals do it together. I know I stay more committed when there’s some accountability!
Here’s to your health!!!
Oh yeah: there is a water aerobics class Tues & Thurs nights from 5:30 – 6:30 on base that is free!! Let’s do it!!
Donna
(Pass this along to anyone else who wants to be on the team)

Here is a follow-up Barbie received from Donna on this.

Yesterday, I forwarded you Donna's email to her co-workers. EVERYONE said YES to starting a group, although some refused to wear a bathing suit. Donna, make sure you follow up with them regarding WOWY!! They'll be hooked on Slim in 6 in no time!

Donna- we'd love to hear how this is going?

Listen to the Team Genesis Conference calls on your own time!

This is from an email that Kevin, FitDoc, sent out awhile ago.  I am just posting it here as a reminder.  If you can't make the conference calls you can still listen to them.  They are helpful.  I think you can download them to your iPOD and listen to them in your car!

Most excellent FitDoc Team:

Information on the conference call with Team Genesis is below.  (Previous post)
Don't forget you can listen later or catch previous calls at www.talkshoe.com.  Search for Beachbody Team Genesis.  The TG calls can also be downloaded automatically as podcasts!

((Top secret FitDoc note:  You can also find other team calls on talkshoe.  I hear Team Power has good calls, too.))

Visit Team Genesis Website

We are all part of Team Genesis!  All of the coaches in this group of coaches committed to growing the team.  Their website is at  http://myteamgenesis.com/.  All of the coaches reading this should become a member of the website.  It's free, you just need to email them and let them give you member access.  This website has some general coaching information available to help you.

One thing they have available are business cards already set up and ready to be ordered.  You just need to place an order and give them your personal contact information to be used on the card in the ordering process.   I know Beachbody's coaching kit had some general cards, but they were kind of boring and hard to use (in my opinion).  Team's Genesis's cards are very professional and easy to order!

Team Genesis also offers weekly conference calls to help you grow your business.  This is a place to share ideas or hear other peoples ideas.  You can hear about past calls by listening to some of the recordings.  Click here.

You can also sign up to get the weekly Team Genesis newsletter.  Just click here to sign up.

It only takes a minute to sign up for this stuff and then read through it!  You may find and hear stuff that can really help you!

Creating a Domain Name!

I mentioned in the last few posts that once you get a website or blog up and running, you want to consider creating a personal domain name for your sites.  The reason, it just makes it easier to tell people how to get to your site.  Since you will be talking about your Beachbody business and telling them to visit websites or to get them to sign up, you want something easy and catchy to remember.

You can order Domain Names from GoDaddy.com.  A domain name cost about $10 and last for 2 years I think? (They have other options, so choose what works for you.)  When you sign up with Godaddy to get a domain name, it also gives you a free email address.  For example, my blog has a domain name of HeathersFitnessSpot.  With that godaddy account, I now have an email account that is CoachHeather@HeathersFitnessSpot!  Both are personal ways to get people to my site without giving them some long path.  Both the email and my blog address are on my business card!  It makes it look like this is a real professional business!

Once you get a Domain Name account, just go into the account and redirect your website to the new domain!

Again, if you have any questions on how to do any of this, contact your coach!

Creating Your Own Blog!

Alright, now that you have a Beachbody Message Board set up and going and you have your Beachbody website up and personalized, why not consider something a whole lot more personal!  Start a BLOG!  Its free and so easy!  Barbie and I believe that the blog is such a great personal touch that draws our customers to us!  Its our way of speaking to them outside of the Beachbody Community!  It is one way to do something a little above and beyond what other coaches might be doing!  And, it helps get our name out there!

Barbie and I both use Blogspot.com!  Both of us are not overly up on the computer technology and can manage to blog!  It took me about an hour to sit in there and learn what I was doing.  Then I just started blogging!

How often do I update my blog?
I try to update it with one blog post everyday!  It keeps it interesting and coming back.  I try not to do more then once a day (ok, today I have been crazy here, but this is an exception).  I like my subscribers to get 1 maybe 2 messages from me a day, not a hundred!  Just enough to spark their interest!

What do I blog about?
Anything that I want.  Here are a few things I talk about on a daily basis.
  • My workouts, good or bad, how I struggled,...  I try to keep it light and fun!  Try to think about something in the workout that will make people laugh!  Maybe a crazy comment about Debbie and her non-stop burning leg lifts!  You know, you probably aren't the only one who has issues with them!  This helps get people to connect to you.
  • I give reviews and information about the Beachbody products or other products and websites I use that help me on my journey!
  • If I struggle for topics, my brain just is not creative that day, then I look up an article in a magazine or online that I know is going to help my customers.  Maybe I heard a lot of people as what is whey protein and why is it important.  I will then look up stuff on whey protein and a blog about it!
  • I post success stories!  Showing is believing!
  • The topics are endless!
What else do I put on my blog?
  • Before and after pictures
  • Links to my Beachbody sites - like to order products or to sign up as a coach, to sign up for WOWY
  • Links to other important sites like Fitday,...
What else?
  • Don't forget to set up a place for your customers to subscribe to your blog!  You want them coming back or getting your tips!
  • You can track your hits and information by using Feedburner!  We can save this for another topic!  This is a great way to find out how many people you have reading your blog!  If set up correctly, it also helps to see where they are finding your blog?
  • As mentioned in the website post, creating a Domain Name for your blog is another easy way for you to give people your website information or to add to a card!  A few examples of easy to remember domain names are:  Barbie's - GetFitWithBarbie.com or mine HeathersFitnessSpot.com.

Beachbody Website

If you are not talented to create your own website, then Beachbody has done you a big favor!  They created a website for you already!

You can find this on the Coaches Backdoor, then the marketing tab, then website!

I'd take a few minutes and modify it as much as possible.  Beachbody currently has it limited to what you can change.  You can change some pictures and update some text.  You can look at my website for an example.  (You may need to be logged out of WOWY to see mine, otherwise the link may take you to your website.)  This is just one example, look at some of the other coaches websites and see how they modified them.

Why is this exciting!  This website has easy to access place for your customers to see products videos/information, see success stories, get links to your off-Beachbody sites (like a blog).  Its also a great place to get your customers to sign up for orders, to become a coach, or just to join WOWY to become a customer!

This is a place to draw attention to your customers.  Later, we should talk about creating a domain name for your website.  Something easy to remember.  That way, when you talk to people you say just visit my website at (my domain is my name - HeatherBuchman.com).   If I tell people that, it should take them directly to the website I have linked above.  Now, isn't that easy!  Also, when you create your business card (another topic), this domain name will look good on the card!

Building Your Success!

These are a few of the items in the coaches package that I think are important reminders to help you get started!

Get your Business Started!
  • Set up your virtual and physical office spaces!
  • Organize phone, internet, and bank accounts.  - I personally opened a separate checking account just for Beachbody Coaching Expenses.  I pay all my bills from this account and I add all my paychecks right to it!  It keeps my coaching business separate from my personal account.
  • Set your goals
  • Review your coach compensation plan
  • Create your 30-day plan
  • Talk to people you know by phone and email
  • Follow-up with prospects
  • Create two Success Links in your first 30 days!  (Success Link is a personally sponsored coach.  This takes you up to Emerald Status!)

Get on the Products
  • Join the Team Beachbody Club

  • Use the personal meal planner to support your fitness goals.
Get in Shape
All these pieces of advice are important!  That show you use and believe in the product.  When you show up to WOWY and the Message Boards you make yourself known!  You have to get your name out there!  By have an awesome before and after picture is a great way to get people to want to meet you!
  • Pick your fitness program
  • Track your progress daily (2 great ways to show your customers your progress- by starting your own BB thread and by creating a blog)
  • Create your Coach profile on WOWY
  • Track your fitness goals
  • Upload a "before" picture
  • Write down your measurements
  • Workout 20 times in the first 30 days

Yeah you became a coach! Now what?

First congratulations on deciding to becoming  coach and welcome to our team!

Remember, that your personally sponsored coach is always available to help you answer questions and get you started.

One of the first things you need to do is read all the information that is in the Coaches Package from Beachbody!  Just like you read all the materials for all the new videos you use, these books are full of information to help you get started.

Next, go to the Coaches Backroom!  You get there from your WOWY page and hit COACH.  Once there, play around get to know all the ins and outs of what is back there!  If you need help with finding or using something, please ask your coach!  We want to help you!

The Community Forums: How to Start Your Own Thread

So you want to start a thread on the BeachBody Community Forums? It's easy!

Follow these steps:

1. Go to www.forums.teambeachbody.com

2. Decide where you want to start your thread (ex. Slim in 6, P90X Photo Gallery, Ten Minute Trainer, etc).

3. On the top left hand side, click NEW. Once there, you will be asked if you want to start a photo album or a discussion board. Choose discussion board if you would like to make posting easier.

4. Where it says SUBJECT, enter the name of your thread. Mine is: Barbie's Slim Spot.

5. Where it says TOPIC LEAD, enter what you would like for people to see before they enter your thread. It is usually a type of invitation to enter.

Here, too, you can place pictures. These will make your thread more noticeable and hopefully invite people in.

To post pictures in this area, you will need to open a FREE account at www.photobucket.com. You will need to download your pics. Afterwards, you will need to copy the code on to the TOPIC LEAD are. The code starts with a "<" and ends with a ">."

6. Where it says MESSAGE, type in your first post. This is the first message readers will see when going into your thread.

I hope this helps!
