Coaching Tips and Strategies to Getting More Customers and Personally Sponsored Coaches
Introduction (by Barbie):
The community message boards are just one way of attracting “coachees” or customers who may also become coaches in the future. But, they are by no means the only way. As BeachBody grows and the community message boards become more saturated, we will have to use other strategies to help our coaching business grow.
The purpose of this handout is to share different techniques and strategies that have worked for some coaches.
Remember: the key to being successful as a coach is to be patient and persistent. If something doesn’t work for you, try a different approach. Eventually, you will get to where you want to be. Anything worth doing takes time and effort.
The Rule of Five (presented by Kevin):
Looking at the list below of ‘things to do’ can initially feel overwhelming. But, remember: you don’t have to do every one of these things and you don’t have to do them at all once!
To succeed, make a list of five things you can do (daily and monthly) that will move you toward your goal. Little by little, you will grow your business and get to where you want be.
• Set daily goals (5 things you can do every day to promote your business.)
• Set monthly goals (example, giving presentations to 2 local community groups)

I. Local/Community Groups
A. Contact the following to speak about coaching as a business opportunity
• Mary Kay or other skin care network marketing companies (Avon, for example. There are others.)
Mary Kay holds “Inside-Out parties”—being beautiful on the inside with health and fitness & being beautiful on the outside with Mary Kay products.
Some Mary Kay reps promote BeachBody products as coaches while promoting Mary Kay skincare products.
• Chamber of Commerce Events. “Business after hours” for business owners. (Monthly Events. Check calendar).
You get what you put into it. People are there to share their business. (Pro: you’re there to sell and so is everyone else!)
Contact your local Chamber of Commerce Events.
BNI--$500/year membership fee—business people getting together to build their businesses. Networking. ***You can get in as a guest. Contact them.
• Local Day Spas. See brochure.
One coach (who is also a personal trainer) approached a day spa to offer free fitness/wellness consultations. From the brochure:
“My health and fitness are not
guaranteed and should not be taken
for granted!”
That’s why I have devoted
my life to helping others
reach their own personal
fitness goals in the privacy
of their home.
But BeachBody offers
more than just fitness
coaching. Our fitness
support is all-inclusive.
• A variety of workouts so you’re never
bored
• Quality supplements that give you the
vitamins and minerals your body looses
over time. “Re-fueling” gives you more
energy, more focus and a better
attitude over all!
• Nutritional guidance to help you
choose the right foods to assist you in
your fitness goals
• How to cheat on your diet! Betcha
didn’t see that coming! We all have our
“comfort foods.” We show you how you
can still eat those treats and still lose
weight!
• Support, support, support! As much or
as little as you want. I’m here to support
you, guide you and assist you all
through your fitness journey.

• Doctors’ offices. Gift basket/brochures.
You can leave a small gift basket (soaps, teas, or healthy BB snacks) that includes a brochure and business cards.
• Local Sporting Events. (Donna’s Example) See brochure.
One coach created a flyer and a tri-fold brochure for her fellow hockey players in which she tells her story of losing weight and getting fit with Slim in 6. In both the flyer and brochure, this coach provides her email address, her website url, and information on joining WOWY.
• Any other ideas?
B. Contact the following to speak to potential customers (“coaches”)
• Church groups or other community groups.
• Weight loss groups. One group that exists on a national level is “TOPS.” You can do a fitness presentation and leave your business card/brochure with them at the end of the meeting.
• Your building.
• Any other ideas?
II. Internet/Social Networking Sites:
For acquiring BOTH customers and coaches. Set up profile with the following social networking sites:
• WAHM (Work At Home Moms) www.wahm.com (There are places where you can write about business.)
• Myspace—put your BeachBody link, post Bulletin (“today is $1000 days!”), look for P90X groups. Both customers and coaches have been acquired through myspace. This is definitely a venue that you should explore.
• Sparkpeople
• Any others?
III. WOWY—How to use WOWY to attract customers
• Invite people you don’t know to work out with you on WOWY. Why? Many of the strangers you invite will click on your profile and some will ask you to coach them.
• Invite your friends and people you meet in the real world to WOWY. Why? Many folks will be attracted to the opportunity to win prizes for logging in their workouts. It is very likely that they will find their way to the products section.
• Offer personal discount to friends/coworkers, with condition to sign up in WOWY. Why? The chances are good that they will become repeat customers.
• If you are a coach who has coaches, have customers sign up under someone in your team to help them out.
• Admittedly, one of the drawbacks is that you get a ridiculous amount of WOWY invitations. But, just hit the delete button! Do not feel obligated to respond.
IV. Weekly Team BeachBody Calls.
• TEAM POWER CALLS—building your outside legs. Practical business tips. David Martin. You can listen to their calls.
http://ourteampower.googlepages.com/
• TEAM ELITE CALLS—Mark said he’d forward me the link.
• TEAM GENESIS—our team. Thefitdoc forwards us this information weekly.
IV. Community Message Boards
• Be there daily. Be someone they can count on.
• Follow up.
• Make it about fitness.
• Limit your time. Know there are other means!
V. Coach Etiquette:
• Follow up within 24 hours.
• No isn’t necessarily no; it’s just no for now.
• Don’t take it personally!
• Eventually you will get a yes.
