I know its very confusing at first. But, I want to try and explain it a little since I am getting questions.
You need to set your preferred placement BEFORE you sign up a coach! If someone signs up, and they are not placed where you wanted - you have like 24 hours to switch them. To do this you must contact Coach Relations directly and speak to them.
So, get out those brackets you use for the basketball tournaments and start filling them in as you grow your downline. It will help you choose where you need your next coach to go. You can also graphically view your tree in your back office. So, let me walk you through this.
To view your tree- go to the tab "reports and placement". Then go to "my downline", then "graphic genealogy." Pick the number of levels and hit "show report". Now you can see all the coaches below you.
Note the legend-
- Blue shaded box are your personally sponsored coach.
- White boxes are coaches that someone upline of you placed below you. This helps your volume points grow, so its only a good thing.
- Blue outlined boxes means that coach has other coaches downline of them.
- Black outlined boxes mean that they are the end, and that coach has no downline. These are the people you want to start adding your coaches below.
- The red (orange text) in the box means that coach meets all the requirements to be "active".
- The black text in the box means that coach is not active, meaning they probably did not meet the requirements for 50 PV.
Ok, so now you know where you want your next coach to be placed. Either on your left leg or your right (remember to keep them balanced), and you know under what coach you want them placed (you can place them under any coach in your downline, even if they are not your personally sponsored coach). Now you decided you want to place a coach under Jane Smith, Jane is in your right leg in this example. If you double click Jane's name, it will pop up a new screen for details on Jane Smith. You will find her ID number on the top left of this pop up screen, write down that number.
Now to set your preferred placement so your next coach is actually placed under Jane when they sign up, go back to your "Home" tab.
As of the time of this report, I say use the old back office to do these next few steps. My new back office does not work for this.
To get to your old back office, double click the "reports and placement" tab. It will give a new home screen. On the left of the screen, the last section is called "compensation" and there is a link to "previous office view." Click this.
Now hit "genealogy". On the left of that screen is a link to "preferred placement." Click this.
- On this screen, click the dot for "set preferred placement"
- Under placement ID, place your coaches (Jane's) ID number that you wrote down from above.
- I don't know what business center means, for me there only is 1. So, keep that.
- In position, choose the leg Jane is in. In the example, it was "right".
- Click Save
That's it, your next coach will be placed under Jane. Remember, to update this after your next coach signs up to choice where you want your next coach placed. Keep your goals in mind? Are you trying to get so many active coaches per leg? Maybe one leg is weak in sales, so you need to build that one up? Also, keep in mind who you place them under. Maybe one coach has no downline, so you could place someone there to help them grow by letting their team PV points add up?
It takes a little while to understand. So, if confusing, please ask your upline coach! I'm sure they can walk you through this process!

Thanks Heather.
One clarification- Coach relations gives you 72 hours to move a coach, so if a coach goes in the wrong spot you have a little time to ask them to make the change, but not a lot. Once that 72 hours is up, the placement is set in stone!
Preferred placement is important to set even after your first coach.
If you have your first coach put in you left leg, you would assume your next coach will automatically go on the right, right?
Not necessarily.
If someone upline happens to put a coach on your right, your next personally sponsored coach may end up back on your left side.
No worries, though. It sounds more complicated than it is. Once you do it once, it will make sense.
Like Heather said, if you need help, just ask your upline.
